The Buncombe County Jail

Since January 4, 2022 I have been downloading the list of current Buncombe County Detention Facility detainees using the jail website. My goals at the beginning were fairly vague, but they centered and continue to center on providing basic information that might help inform our local conversation about incarceration.

Each post below uses the data I’ve collected to answer a simple question or two. Over time I hope that they can provide a better picture of how we are using the jail in Buncombe County and for whom.
